Recently, the Faculty of Forestry Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a research workshop with “International Publication and Patent Writing” as its theme. It was held at Grand Artos Hotel, Magelang-Central Java on September 13-15, 2019. This workshop aims to improve the productivity and quality of the indexed international publication by the lecturers within Forestry Faculty UGM.
The speaker for the Big Data Management and Analysis material was delivered by Dr. Deendarlianto, S.T., M.Eng. (Engineering Faculty UGM) whereas the “Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis” material was presented by dr. Jarit At Thobari, DPharm, Ph.D. (Medical, Public Health, and Nursing Faculty UGM). As an additional material about patent rights, Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Karna Wijaya, M.Eng. (Mathematics and Science Faculty UGM) held a sharing session of patent/intellectual property rights writing. There was also an assistance of technical publication writing by Dr. Dyah Rahmawati Hizbaron, S.Si, M.T., M.Sc. (Geography Faculty of UGM), Dr.biol.hom. Nastiti Wijayanti, S.Si., M.Si (Biology Faculty of UGM), and Dr. Hero Marhaento, S.Hut., M.Si. (Forestry Faculty of UGM).
Dr. Muhammad Ali Imron, S.Hut., M.Sc. as the Vice Dean of Research, Community Service, and Cooperation of Forestry Faculty UGM gave the opening speech about how helpful this workshop for the lecturers is. They can get used to write an international publication manuscript by the help of outside reviewer to experience different styles of articles writing.
The total of 22 participants, consisted of lecturers and graduate students of the Forestry Science Studies Program, took part in the entire session of the workshop including the writing assistance by the reviewer. The Faculty Research Committee which consisted of D.Agr.Sc. Ragil Widyorini, S.T., M.T. (Forest Product Technology Departement), Dr. Ir. Sri Rahayu, M.P. (Silviculture Departement), Dr. Dwiko Budi Permadi, S.Hut., M.Sc. (Forest Management Department) and Dr. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho, S.Hut., M.Agr.Sc. (Forest Product Technology Department) held a session about capacity building for publications.
At the end of the workshop, Dr. Muhammad Ali Imron, S.Hut., M.Sc. informed the scheme of publication assistance in 2019 that is offered by the Forestry Faculty UGM. For example, in submitting the manuscript for the results of an indexed international journal, publishing a Scopus indexed international journal/ISI Thompson, Accredited National and Community Service Journal, national seminar participation, printing a scientific book, the registration of patent rights/copyright, and a productive journal writer award.
