THE 50 NATIONAL PARK EXPEDITIONS OF MAPALA SILVAGAMA
BETUNG KERIHUN NATIONAL PARK AND SENTARUN LAKE AND MOUNT PALUNG NATIONAL PARK
Mapala Silvagama continued to carry out the expedition of 50 National Parks to explore the potential of natural resources, as a form of concern for natural conservation. In mid-2019, the expedition team visited 2 National Parks in the island of Kalimantan, namely the Betung Kerihun Danau Sentarum National Park (TNBKDS) and Gunung Palung National Park (TNGP). The expedition was carried out for one month, from 31 July to 31 August 2019 with a total of 8 field teams consisting of 4 people from Silvagama and 4 others from the UGM Photography Unit (UFO). The exploration in both National Parks was focused on peatlands which possess the essential role in maintaining unique and distinctive forest biodiversity. The exploration also performed on avifauna species diversity in the Betung Kerrihun Danau Sentarum National Park and on the distribution of Nephenthes spp plants in Gunung Palung National Park. It is expected that these expeditions are bale to support the managers of the Betung Kerihun Danau Sentarum National Park and Gunung Palung National Park in managing biodiversity, tourism and the community.
